Absolutism: Don’t We All Have to Find Truth for Ourselves?  Tim Keller via Monergism

Photo I was cleaning out old files from my computer, and stumbled across this. Its an “apology” letter to a bus driver from when I was a kid. Gave me a good laugh.

MS Update: Report from Neurology Appointment Yesterday

We found a local Neurologist. He was really helpful. We gave him the assesment/record that was done in the states, he was very pleased and said that it was very well done and I am doing great (nice getting a 3rd opinion). He confirmed that cod liver oil (omega 3) is a really good thing. Wow as I am writing this I am realizing how positive the whole thing was. Nice. My insurance sucks so it was GOING to cost R860 ($120) BUT, when we went to leave the admin told us NO CHARGE. Needless to say we were stoked. This has really caused me to reflect on how God has consistently shown up, in regards to the MS, as we have made this move to South Africa. Aaron Marshall Neurolgific

Becoming part of your neighborhood

Exerpt from Porterbrook Training Materials

It’s very easy for us to put on events that suit us at locations that suit us and at times that suit us. But to reach a neighborhood or community of people we need to:

- Eat their food
- Play their games
- Hear their stories
- Walk their streets
- Enter their homes
- Follow their timetables
- Inhabit their space

As a result it should be our neighborhood rather than their neighborhood - our shops, our parks, our public services, our cafes and bars, our streets and so on.

Most preachers preach ‘ought to’ and ‘how to.’ They should instead be preaching ‘want to’ because of the gospel.

How will our neighbors hear us about the real, cosmic conspiracy when they see us constantly falling for silly pseudo-conspiracy theories?

Loving self is the cruelest of all slaveries: it promises everything and delivers absolutely nothing. Loving God and others is the most liberting of all freedoms: it promises everything and gives us even more.

City Bowl of Milk

I am in a totally cool place right now. In the process of getting my head around the culture of the City Bowl in Cape Town. Straight up, I love it. The music, food, people and vibe are truly original. I won’t begin to try and describe it yet, but I will say that 10 years ago I had a radically different vision of God had for me in Africa. I dig it.

Nothing can be more cruel than the leniency which abandons others to their sin. Nothing can be more compassionate than the severe reprimand which calls another Christian in one’s community back from the path of sin.
